Job description
Starting from September 2026
We are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious and dedicated Teacher of Mathematics to join our high-achieving Mathematics department at Reading School.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate mathematician who can deliver engaging, challenging and wellstructured lessons across Years 7 to 13. An eagerness to teach the subject at A Level is essential and we would welcome candidates who have an interest in teaching A Level Further Maths.
The successful candidate will be joining an exceptional team and a school that is passionate about Mathematics as a subject; the Mathematics Department is a crucial part of our commitment to being a worldleading institution. Mathematics is the most popular subject in the school at A Level, with approximately 170 students studying A Level Mathematics in both year groups, of whom around 70 also take Further Maths.
All KS4 students study Higher GCSE Edexcel, with approximately 90 students also taking the OCR freestanding additional mathematics qualification. Years 7 and 8 follow the national curriculum with students given the opportunity to apply their knowledge through problem solving challenges.
We encourage all students to participate in the UKMT Mathematics Challenges and regularly have students qualifying for the follow-on rounds. This is made possible by our teachers providing an environment in which students are encouraged to think and problem-solve creatively.
