Job Description

Humly North East are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and passionate part-time Media Studies teacher to join our team on a temporary long-term supply basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching Media Studies at the secondary school level and will be able to inspire and motivate students to explore and critically engage with the world of media.

This role will involve teaching a range of Media Studies topics to KS3 and KS4 students, including media theory, film analysis, digital literacy, and media production. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing students' work, and providing feedback to ensure their continued academic development.

The weekly working hours will be between 15 to 17 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:



Teach Media Studies to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in line with the curriculum. Assess and monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback. Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. Collaborate with colleagues in the department to develop and improve teaching materials. Maintain effective classroom management and ensure positive student behavior. Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Essential Requirements:



A degree in Media Studies, Journalism, or a related field. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS. Proven experience teaching Media Studies at the secondary level. Strong knowledge of the Media Studies curriculum and exam specifications (GCSE level). Excellent communication and organizational skills. A passion for media education and inspiring students to develop critical media literacy. The ability to adapt quickly to a new school environment and manage a classroom effectively.

Desirable:



Experience in teaching post-16 Media Studies or media production. Knowledge of digital tools and software for media production.
