Purpose of the RoleTo teach and lead the Relationships & RSE programme across the school.
To ensure the RSE curriculum meets statutory requirements and supports pupils' personal development, wellbeing, and safeguarding.To oversee the strategic development of RSE, including staff training, curriculum review, and evaluation, during the maternity cover period.
Key Responsibilities - Teacher of RSE Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate RSE lessons across year groups. Create a safe, inclusive environment where pupils feel confident to discuss sensitive topics. Assess and monitor pupil progress, reporting as required. Support pastoral and safeguarding teams with issues relating to RSE. Contribute to PSHE provision and whole-school wellbeing initiatives
Responsibilities - Head of RSE (Maternity Cover)Provide leadership and strategic oversight of the RSE curriculum. Ensure compliance with statutory RSE requirements and DfE guidance. Lead curriculum planning, development, and review to ensure high quality and relevance. Support, guide, and train staff delivering RSE across the school. Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of RSE provision. Act as a key contact for parents, carers, governors, and external agencies regarding RSE.
General Responsibilities
Uphold and promote safeguarding and child protection policies. Contribute to whole-school duties and professional development.Support the ethos, vision, and values of the school.
Person Specification (Summary)Qualifications: QTS and relevant degree.Experience: Teaching PSHE/RSE or related subjects; leading curriculum or pastoral initiatives (desirable for Head role). Skills: Strong communication, ability to handle sensitive issues, leadership and organisational skills. Values: Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, equality, and promoting pupil wellbeing.
