About the role



We are seeking a well-qualified and enthusiastic Science Teacher with a passion for their subject and a keen interest in developing children's skill and enthusiasm.

The successful candidate will inspire and promote their love of their subject whilst encouraging a sense of fun and enjoyment of learning. He or she will deliver lessons to pupils in Years 5-8 in our dedicated science labs, which provide the perfect environment for inspirational learning. The successful applicant will be committed to furthering the development of the children in their charge, as well as advancing their own lifelong learning.

All staff at Marlborough House Vinehall play a full part in the School's pastoral and extra-curricular programme and the successful candidate will be enthusiastic about doing the same. In particular, candidates should be ready to take an after-school club.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities



Planning

Planning and preparing schemes of work, weekly plans and individual lessons Liaising with other members of staff on progression and continuity of the curriculum Ensuring curriculum balance and breadth
Teaching

Teaching the class according to their individual needs Differentiation in all subject areas Delivering creative lessons with high quality resources
Assessment, recording and reporting

Marking according to the School's Marking Policy Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils Ensuring all children's work and records are up to date Moderating work across classes and year groups Attending Parents' Consultation Evenings
Analysis

Ensuring all assessment scores are placed on the database Using scores to track individual and cohort progress Using scores to inform future planning
Children's Welfare

Promoting the general progress and well-being of individual pupils and the classes as a whole Supporting and encouraging our values Encouraging positive behaviour Keeping records of the personal and social needs of pupils Maintaining good order and discipline among pupils in accordance with school policy Safeguarding children's health and safety both in and out of the classroom
Contribution to the wider life of the school - to include some of the following:

Organising class productions and events Supporting and helping with school productions and events Supervise lunches and breaks, on a rota basis Teach/Coach games and sports Advance teacher's own lifelong learning to be able to contribute more widely and/or deeply to the school
General

Participate in meetings at the School including staff meetings held before the start of each term and attending other School events / functions as directed by the Head Have regard to all School policies and procedures Read and follow all relevant policies and procedures (in particular Health and Safety and Safeguarding and Child Protection policies) Be alert at all times to Health and Safety or Safeguarding issues or potential issues and report these as appropriate During the course of employment teachers will have access to information of a confidential nature. Under no circumstances may this information be divulged or passed on to any unauthorised person or organisation During the course of employment, teachers will have access to data and personal information that must be processed in accordance with the terms and conditions of the General Data Protection Regulation and properly applied to pupil, staff and school business/information, ensuring compliance with the School's policies on data protection All teachers have responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of all children in the school.
