Context:





Purpose of the Role:



To plan, deliver, and assess high-quality A-Level Mathematics and Physics lessons that enable students to achieve excellent academic outcomes, develop a strong understanding of subject content, and prepare for higher education and careers in STEM fields.

Key Responsibilities:



Deliver engaging and challenging lessons in A-Level Mathematics and Physics that align with the UK curriculum (e.g., Edexcel, AQA, OCR). Use a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities. Set high expectations for student achievement and behaviour. Design and implement assessments that monitor student progress effectively. Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student improvement. Prepare students for internal and external examinations, ensuring excellent performance. Participate in department planning, meetings, and curriculum development. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behaviour. Contribute to pastoral care and support the overall well-being and academic development of students. Attend parent evenings, staff meetings, training days, and whole-school functions. Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Person Specification



Essential Qualifications and Experience:



A good honours degree in Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related subject. UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification recognized in the UK. Proven experience teaching Mathematics and Physics at A-Level in a UK or British curriculum school/college. Evidence of successful outcomes in student achievement and progress. Strong knowledge of A-Level specifications (e.g., Edexcel, AQA, OCR).

Skills and Competencies:



Excellent subject knowledge and the ability to deliver complex content clearly and effectively. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. Proficient in using technology to support teaching and learning. Ability to assess, track, and analyse student performance data effectively. High standards of professionalism, punctuality, and commitment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, parents, and colleagues. Adaptable, innovative, and committed to continuous professional development.

Legal Requirements:



Must have the legal right to work in the UK Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain prior to start date). Satisfactory references from previous employers.
