Founded in 1915, the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) is one of the UK's largest institutions for research and teaching on Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, the Baltic region and Russia. Our mission is to create in-depth knowledge of the SSEES region in comparative, transnational, and global contexts, and to promote and disseminate an understanding of our region to the wider world; to develop multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and multi-method approaches to knowledge creation and to teaching; and to enhance the development of area studies at UCL and among the wider academic community. We offer undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes, both in our four core disciplines (Economics and Business; Politics and Sociology; Languages and Culture; and History) and in our interdisciplinary programmes (for example, our BA in History, Politics & Economics).
About the role

As Teaching and Learning Manager, you will lead the Education and Student Support Office (ESSO) at SSEES, overseeing the delivery of high-quality administrative support across undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and research programmes. You will coordinate key areas such as timetabling, assessments, student records, and quality assurance, while working closely with academic and professional services colleagues. The role includes line management responsibilities, strategic planning, and continuous improvement of processes to enhance the student and staff experience. The position is available from 30 September 2025 to 31 August 2026. Interviews are expected to be held on 4 and 5 September.
About you
-------------
You will have significant experience supporting teaching and associated activities, with substantial experience of line management. You'll be confident in managing and motivating teams, and have a good understanding of the key issues influencing UK Higher Education. You'll also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage and manipulate large amounts of programme and curriculum-related data using Excel, PowerBI, or other relevant software.
