32.5 hours per week
Working hours: 8:30am - 3:00pm
This is a unique opportunity for a qualified TA who is
seeking a change of pace from the traditional classroom or busy SEN setting
. Unlike typical TA roles supporting multiple students, this position focuses on one-to-one support in a one-to-one classroom setting for students, allowing for a more personalised, consistent, and impactful approach to learning.
It is a non-traditional Teaching Assistant role
that requires adaptability, creativity, and the ability to approach education and social development in an individualised way.
You will work closely with a Qualified Teacher
to plan and deliver learning activities based on the student's EHCP targets, create visual resources, and use a range of communication techniques to support both verbal and non-verbal interaction.
Collaboration will be key:
you will liaise our own SEND Lead and ACE Coordinator, student(s) care teams, and external professionals (e.g., Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker) to ensure a holistic, person-centred approach.
Essential Criteria
Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or above)
Experience supporting children or young people in education, care, or SEN settings, specifically those who experience Autism, Profound Learning Difficulties, or complex challenging behaviour
A naturally positive and resilient attitude that fosters a safe, supportive, and engaging environment
Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and practices
Ability to adapt and differentiate support for young people with SEN
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Criteria
Additional qualifications/training in SEN support
Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies
Experience creating or using visual aids/alternative communication systems
Role Responsibilities
Support a student on a 1:1 basis in their learning and daily routine, under the direction of a Qualified Teacher
Deliver high-quality, safe, and person-centred support
Create resources and activities that are adapted to the individual's EHCP goals
Completion of associated admin, cleaning of the classroom environment, setting up of learning materials for learning
Promote independence, communication, and social interaction in a creative, engaging way
Work closely with families, care staff, and external professionals to ensure a joined-up approach
Safeguard the young person at all times and act in their best interests
