As a Teaching Assistant within the Autism Resource Base, you will collaborate with a team of educators to provide tailored support to students with autism. Your role will be vital in helping our students thrive in both academic and social settings.


Key Responsibilities:

Provide individual and small group support to students with autism, promoting their engagement and learning. Assist teachers in the delivery of lessons and the preparation of learning materials that are inclusive and accessible. Develop positive relationships with students, encouraging their confidence and independence in their learning. Support students with special educational needs, implementing personalised strategies and resources to help them succeed. Contribute to the overall atmosphere of the classroom, ensuring it remains supportive, respectful, and conducive to learning. Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to foster a holistic approach to student development.

Position Details:

Grade 6, competitive salary based on experience, with part-time opportunities available.

Requirements



Experience or understanding of working with autistic students in a school or similar environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff. Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting the unique needs of each student. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to provide effective support for students. Flexible and creative in adapting learning strategies to meet diverse needs. An understanding of autism and its impact on learning and social interaction is essential.
