To provide focussed support, following guidelines and advice, for children.
To participate as a member of a team working to create an environment which promotes children's development and learning.
To foster children's growth, self-esteem and independence.
To contribute to observations and records of children's development.
Encourage children to act independently where appropriate.
To contribute to the preparation and clearing away of activities and to keep all areas safe and tidy.
Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupil's competence and independence in its use.
Assist in the whole school planning cycle, including the contribution to the development of lesson/work plans and managing and preparing resources.
Develop knowledge of the particular needs of pupils and seek advice as required.
To work according to the School and United Learning Policies for Equality, promoting and modelling positive behaviour and attitude generally.
There will be occasions when working on the floor with the children will be required.
To provide personal care support for children as required.
To provide comfort for sick children, to administer First Aid as appropriate, and to clear up after sick children.
To follow Hill View School's Safeguarding Policy and alert the Designated Member of Staff for Safeguarding to any signs that a child might be at risk using our online recording system (CPOMS).
To maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the pupils needs whilst having regard to the safeguarding procedures of the school.
To foster good relationships with parents.
To attend staff/team meetings and in-service training (CPD Tuesday's after school plus 8 INSET days over the year).
To assist in specified interventions or programmes (training provided where needed).
To teach a phonics group following the Read Write Inc scheme.
To supervise and interact with children at all times in all areas, inside and outside.
Accompany teaching staff and pupils on visits and trips.
To interact and engage with children during their break or lunchtime play.
To uphold the school's dress code and staff code of conduct.
* Staff will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from a senior member of staff and be courteous to all colleagues providing a welcoming environment for all.
