Job Description


Teaching Assistant with excellent interpersonal skills and a good standard of numeracy and literacy is required to join a well-established Academy Trust based in Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire.

SALARY: \xc2\xa320,812 per annum FTE / Actual Annual Salary \xc2\xa315,174 per annum

LOCATION: Hedge End, Southampton, Hampshire

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent (Term Time Only)

WORKING HOURS: 30.75 Hours per Week, Monday and Thursday 8.15am to 4.00pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8.15am to 3.00pm, Term Time only (40 weeks)

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with excellent interpersonal skills and a good standard of numeracy and literacy.

Working as the Teaching Assistant you will work closely with teaching and non-teaching staff and provide support across a range of different curriculum subjects.

As the Teaching Assistant you will have excellent verbal communication skills and a genuine interest in working with students who have a variety of additional needs.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Teaching Assistant will include:

  • Participate in the evaluation of the learning support programmes
  • Maintain student progress records
  • In conjunction with the class teacher and/or other professionals assist the development of a system of recording student\xe2\x80\x99s progress
  • Contribute to reviews of student\xe2\x80\x99s progress
  • Provide regular feedback about a student to the teacher
  • Take into account the special needs of students, to aid the student to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his/her own by, for example:
  • clarifying and explaining instructions
  • ensuring that all students are able to use equipment and materials provided
  • motivating and encouraging student as required
  • assisting in weak areas, e.g. language, behaviour, reading, spelling, handwriting and presentation, etc.
  • helping students to concentrate on and finish work set
  • meeting physical needs as required whilst encouraging independence
  • Provide, where necessary, written details of students\' progress/behaviour to assist Annual Reviews and/or other assessments
  • Become familiar with the aims and objectives of Annual Reviews and the targets of lEPs for the students with whom they are working
  • Assist with class teacher (and other professionals as appropriate), in the development of a suitable programme of support for students with special needs
