Pioneer House High School is a special school in Northern Moor providing education for pupils aged 11-19 with significant additional needs.

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant Level 1 (SEN) to join our experienced and passionate team, supporting pupils across the school in achieving their full potential.
This is a permanent post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is 21,662 and the full time equivalent is 25,185 Grade 3. This role is to start as soon as pre-employment checks are complete
What we are looking for: Someone with a good understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and how to work effectively as part of a wider classroom team
A solid foundation and understanding of child development and learning
Excellent literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2 or equivalent or higher)
A team player with a professional attitude, who's committed to continuous improvement
An excellent Communicator with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external agencies
Experience supporting young people with severe, profound, or complex learning difficulties is highly desirable
Main purpose of the job:
You will be a part of a team providing exceptional education for students so that they become happy, confident adults.
You will support teaching and learning across the school, providing general support in the management of pupils and resources, working under the supervision of the class teacher, department lead and senior leadership team.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting pupils in small groups and 1:1 settings under the direction of the class teacher
Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning plans
Promoting inclusion and supporting the development of pupils' independence and confidence
Helping maintain a safe, stimulating classroom environment
Supporting personal care, therapy, and health needs where required (with training)
Engaging in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
