We currently have an exciting opportunity for Teaching Assistant L3 SEN (Forest School) to join our fantastic team at Grange School.

This is a Grade 5 permanent post working 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days. The starting salary is 24,223 and the full time equivalent is 28,163.

This role is to start in September, once preemployment checks are complete.

We're looking for:

We are seeking experienced and qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant (SEN) to take responsibility to specialise in Forest School and Environmental education. This role will support the delivery of outdoor learning through environmental education and the support of the Forest School Curriculum.

You will need Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience in forest school learning with a paediatric first aid qualification. You will also need a good working knowledge of child development and learning and excellent numeracy and literacy skills. You must also demonstrate awareness and application of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection.

Main purpose of the job:

As a Forest School and Environmental education Teaching Assistant, you will support students with Special Educational needs in outdoor learning and assist with lessons in horticulture, animal care, and other vocational skills.

Key responsibilities will include:

Assist in planning and delivering outdoor-based, nature-inspired lessons for SEN students. Help students build confidence, independence, and resilience through practical activities. Provide tailored support to meet individual learning needs. Foster a safe, inclusive environment for all students Participate in training, to develop relevant learning strategies and ensure students make progress in learning. To support the performance management process and demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development. To converse at ease and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.

The Grange School is a special school located in Levenshulme, Manchester which provides 247 day places for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans, who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Grange offers a bespoke education for a wide range of pupils between EYFS and KS5 through the provision of a carefully planned and stimulating environment where the pupils can explore, investigate and learn. The bespoke Know and Remember Curriculum has been devised to ensure pupils have access to all the statutory content from the National Curriculum, delivered through engaging and challenging classroom activities. Pupils are set targets each term and progress is measured throughout the school year using our bespoke pupil data system.



Grange School offers some of the most exciting and engaging curriculum enrichment activities to support the pupil's learning. We have an on-site farm with alpacas, pigs and ducks, alongside guinea pigs, rabbits, tortoises and a gecko. An enhanced learning area called the Know Globes supports the delivery of the Remember More Curriculum, and a full-size role play area known as Imagination Village enables pupils to practise real-world skills such as using money, work in our on-site post office and mail delivery service or experience several other real-world settings, including a grocer's, a doctor's surgery, a vet's, a bakery and a mechanics garage.



KS4 and KS5 have a curriculum designed around the world of work and offer accredited courses in English, maths and PSHE in KS4, along with a range of qualifications as they move into KS5 - including Active Sports and Leisure, Catering and Hospitality and Construction, to name but a few.
