We're working with a fantastic
specialist setting in Southwark
supporting children aged 4-16 with
autism spectrum conditions, social communication challenges, and additional complex needs
such as speech and language delays, developmental delay, and learning difficulties. The school provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where children are given the individualised support they need to thrive.
We're seeking a dedicated and resilient
SEND Teaching Assistant
to support in a classroom setting, helping pupils access learning, regulate emotions, and develop independence. This is a long-term opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of neurodivergent learners.
Your Role
Support pupils with autism, social communication needs, and developmental delays
Assist with implementation of structured teaching, visual timetables, and personalised learning plans
Use and support communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or visual supports
Promote engagement, emotional regulation, and social development
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists to ensure consistent, holistic support
Support personal care when required and foster independence across the school day
Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children with autism or communication needs
Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, and sensory regulation is desirable
De-escalation or Team Teach training is an advantage
