We are recruiting for a warm, committed, and resilient
SEND Teaching Assistant
to support children and young people aged 3-19 at an exceptional
Special School in Hackney
. The school offers a highly specialised, inclusive environment for learners with
profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), autism (ASD), sensory impairments, and severe learning disabilities (SLD)
.
Every student has an
Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
and receives personalised support from a multidisciplinary team committed to holistic development and meaningful progress.
Your Role
Work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils across EYFS to Post-16
Support students with high and complex needs, including mobility, communication and sensory regulation
Assist with personal care routines (toileting, feeding, hoisting) where needed
Help implement structured routines and specialist interventions
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and LSAs to ensure consistency
Create a calm, nurturing environment where students can thrive
Ideal Candidate
Experience with PMLD, ASD, SLD, or sensory impairments in educational or care settings
Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration strategies (desirable)
Comfortable with personal care and physical support duties
Patient, emotionally resilient, and deeply committed to inclusive education
Team player who can follow individual EHCP targets
