The Role
We are seeking a
SEND Teaching Assistant
to support pupils with physical and sensory needs across early years, primary, and secondary phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex physical and sensory needs.
Assist with communication strategies such as
PECS
,
Makaton
, and
British Sign Language
(desirable).
Support pupils with mobility, positioning, and personal care where required.
Promote independence and engagement through adapted resources and assistive technology.
Work collaboratively with teachers and therapists to ensure consistent support across home and school.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with physical disabilities and/or sensory impairments.
Knowledge of communication systems (PECS, Makaton, BSL) and assistive technology (desirable).
Patient, adaptable, and proactive individuals who can respond to complex needs calmly and effectively.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
