The Role
We are seeking a
SEND Teaching Assistant
to provide educational and physical care support for pupils with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with
personal care
, including toileting, feeding, and hygiene routines.
Support pupils with
mobility needs
, including hoisting and positioning, following physiotherapy plans.
Implement communication strategies such as
PECS
,
Makaton
, and
British Sign Language
(desirable).
Promote independence and engagement through adapted resources and assistive technology.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent care and learning.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with complex SEND needs, including physical disabilities.
Confidence in providing personal care and using mobility equipment (training can be provided).
Knowledge of communication systems (PECS, Makaton, BSL) and sensory support strategies (desirable).
Patient, adaptable, and proactive individuals who can respond to challenging situations calmly and effectively.
