Provide one-to-one and small group assistance to pupils with diverse special educational needs, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing disorders, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
Collaborative Planning:
Work closely with class teachers and Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) to adapt lesson plans and deliver tailored support.
Inclusive Environment:
Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all children feel valued and supported.
Implementation of IEPs:
Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
Promoting Independence:
Encourage independence and confidence in pupils through targeted interventions and positive reinforcement.
Emotional and Social Support:
Support pupils with their social, emotional, and personal development needs, implementing behavior management strategies as necessary.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience:
Previous experience working with children with SEN is desirable, particularly across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1 (KS1), and Key Stage 2 (KS2).
Knowledge:
Familiarity with SEN strategies, including Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), or sensory regulation techniques.
Qualifications:
Holding relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is advantageous but not essential.
