The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to deliver personalised support, promote engagement, and help pupils achieve both academically and socially. Strong communication skills and a nurturing approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Support class teachers in the delivery of lessons and day-to-day classroom activities
Provide targeted support to pupils with special educational needs, including autism and other additional needs
Deliver one-to-one and small-group support to develop academic, social, and emotional skills
Assist in implementing personalised learning plans and adapting resources where required
Encourage a positive, inclusive learning environment that builds confidence and independence
Support behaviour management strategies in line with school policies
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to monitor progress and support pupil development
Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and wellbeing
Requirements & Experience
Previous experience working with children or within an educational setting is highly desirable
An understanding of special educational needs, including autism and disabilities
Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or pastoral support is an advantage
A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting diverse learners
Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN, or teaching support are beneficial but not essential
