About the school (Bayleaf Hub) at Doveside children's home.
The Bayleaf Hub is a small, special school which educates children ranging from mild to more complex special needs. It is situated in rural Derbyshire and offers a stunning and tranquil setting, with lots of outdoor space to explore. The home has generous communal living spaces, and young people will each have their own bedroom - all with wonderful views of the surroundings and there is also a sensory room on site.
The site is already home to many - with outdoor cats, peacocks, chickens, doves, ducks and geese. Indoors you will find our resident African Grey parrot - Coco. Young people will be offered the opportunity to enjoy spending time with our animals, collecting eggs, watching the peacocks show off their tails, and even having a chat with Coco.
The Bayleaf Hub offers opportunities to receive individualised learning pathways for up to 6 young people. Staff and facilities here provide opportunities for young people to succeed academically and build on their independence skills. The school's curriculum offer includes the national curriculum and pre-formal to formal curricula. The school offers our older children with more complex needs, preparation for adult life and independence.
Hidden behind the school is the beautiful bank of the Trent and Mersey canal. Young people can enjoy nature, and activities including fishing and birdwatching, or even take a trip along the canal in one of our boats! The school uses this space with the home, for therapy.
Our second school at Postern Stables
Postern Stables is our newest children's home, nestled in the peaceful village of Tatenhill, East Staffordshire. Set in a picturesque valley, bordered by two hills that descend from the eastern edge of the Needwood Forest, this spacious and fully renovated 4-bedded home offers a serene and supportive environment for young people to thrive. Located just 4 miles west-southwest of Burton upon Trent, Postern Stables provides a peaceful retreat for those who call it home.
This school is similar to Doveside but next year the 2 acres of land will also become an animal sanctuary for the benefit of the young people in our care. This school can provide education for up to 4 young people.
About Bayleaf Care
Bayleaf Care provides exceptional care for children and young people across the UK, especially those who have faced trauma. We have started our journey to becoming a trauma-informed children's home provider with education. This recognises and supports our efforts to create a safe, caring environment to help children feel secure and build positive relationships.
Our approach starts with the key worker, who forms a strong, trusting bond with the child. This relationship is essential for the child's development and continues throughout their care.
We offer personalized care, education, and treatment led by a team of trained professionals, helping children manage their emotions and behaviours in a safe, supportive environment.
There are currently 5 children's homes open, 2 of these homes have their own school onsite. Bayleaf is expanding with more children's homes on the horizon and we are also opening 2 leaving care homes and 3 CQC registered adult homes so that all our young people can remain in our care by transitioning into these services. It has now been announced that in 2026 we are also opening 2 special schools, one for SEMH and the other will be a L/D & P/D school.
