We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and experienced
Teaching Assistant on one to one basis
to join the dedicated team at Wellow House School. This is a unique opportunity to support a KS3 autistic pupil within our beautiful mainstream independent school, set between Newark and Ollerton.
This rewarding role combines in-class support, individualised learning, and therapeutic interventions as part of her personalised and ambitious educational programme. The successful candidate will contribute directly to her academic progress, wellbeing, social development, and growing independence.
Full training in Speech and Language Therapy, Sensory Occupational Therapy, and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) will be provided -- making this an outstanding professional development opportunity.

About the Role and You

Part-time, Mon, Tue & Friday, 8:45pm and 4:30 pm, Term Time

About the Role:
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO, you will provide:
Build a positive, supportive relationship with the pupil and ensure her safety and wellbeing throughout the day.
Provide both in-class support and focused 1:1 teaching (approx. 50%).
Prepare and adapt resources to meet her personalised curriculum.
Support core learning skills (reading, writing, numeracy) and behavioural/engagement strategies.
Implement Speech & Language, OT, and ABA recommendations after training.
Promote social interaction, inclusion, and tolerance of group learning.
Liaise with teachers, parents, therapists, and external professionals as needed.
Attend relevant meetings and maintain accurate understanding of her EHCP.
Support extracurricular activities, trips, and two after-school sessions weekly.
Provide agreed 1:1 support during parts of the Easter and Summer holiday clubs.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for a proactive, resilient, and empathetic individual with:
Minimum of two years' experience working 1:1 with SEN pupils, particularly autistic children is an advantage
Ability to absorb and implement therapeutic strategies with consistency and accuracy.
Flexibility, openness to learning, and a willingness to adapt approaches to achieve the best outcomes.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at grade C/4+.
NVQ/RQF Level 3+ or similar (desirable).
An understanding of attachment-informed practice (desirable).
