We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support our educational team in providing high-quality learning experiences for students. To work under the instruction of the SENCO, teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individual/groups, in and out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas.
Although the individual is employed principally to undertake the above key role they may be expected to undertake other duties as required commensurate with the post.
Responsibilities
Attend to the pupils personal needs and implement related personal programmes, including social health physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters.
Implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plan and Personal Care Programmes as directed by the SENCO/Teacher.
Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills/training/experience to support pupils.
Establish productive working relationships with pupils acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
Support pupils consistently whilst recognising and responding to their individual needs.
Encourage pupil(s) to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all pupils in activities.
Promote independence and employ strategies to recognise and reward achievement of self-reliance.
Provide feedback to pupil(s) in relation to progress and achievement.
Experience
Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is essential.
NVQ3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications or experience.
GCSE English and Maths A ? C or equivalent.
Experience of working with children of relevant age.
Knowledge
Training in the relevant strategies e.g. literacy and/or in particular curriculum or learning area e.g. dyslexia, ICT, Maths, English etc
Full working knowledge of relevant national/foundation phase curriculum and other relevant learning programmes/strategies.
Ability to self-evaluate learning needs and actively seek learning opportunities.
Ability to relate well with children and adults.
Work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes.
