You'll work alongside talented teachers to deliver engaging learning experiences, provide one-to-one and small group support, and help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and independence. Key Responsibilities



Supporting Teaching & Learning



Support teachers in delivering and adapting learning activities to meet individual pupil needs. Assist in developing engaging, differentiated resources for a wide range of learners. Provide structured learning support to pupils, including those with SEND, EAL, or other additional needs. Deliver targeted intervention programmes for pupils requiring additional support in literacy, numeracy, and other core subjects.

Classroom & Pupil Support



Work with pupils who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and deliver interventions as outlined in those plans. Support pupils with specific or complex health conditions. Collaborate closely with class teachers to promote pupil progress, engagement, and wellbeing. Provide one-to-one and small group support to reinforce learning objectives. Foster a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every pupil feels supported and valued. Use effective behaviour management strategies to help maintain a calm, focused classroom atmosphere. Support the social and emotional development of pupils, encouraging confidence, resilience, and independence.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring



Track and record pupil progress to help inform targeted interventions. Liaise with teachers and the SENCO to contribute to Pupil Passports, Learning Support Plans (LSPs), and other pupil strategies.

Wider School Contribution



Work collaboratively with colleagues to support whole-school initiatives and events. Supervise pupils during breaks, extra-curricular activities, and school trips. Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare, reporting concerns promptly in line with school policy.

Key Skills and Attributes



Essential



Substantial experience working as a Teaching Assistant. Experience supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Strong understanding of the National Curriculum. Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills. Experience supporting pupils with diverse learning needs, particularly SEND and EAL. Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to support or deliver interventions. Confident using educational technology and digital resources. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Collaborative approach to working with teachers, parents, and external professionals. High levels of initiative, adaptability, and a proactive approach to supporting learning. Commitment to safeguarding, child protection, and equal opportunities.

Desirable



Experience working with Key Stage 5 pupils. Degree or additional qualifications in education, child development, or SEND. Training in specific interventions (e.g., phonics, maths mastery, speech and language support). Experience planning and leading enrichment or co-curricular sessions. Familiarity with assessment tools used to track pupil progress. Experience supporting pupil mental health and wellbeing initiatives.
