Job Description

Advantage Education is seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join a specialist Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) school in Southampton. The role involves supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils with complex learning needs, helping them to access education in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

This is a highly hands-on role, ideal for individuals with experience in nurseries, support work, theatre, arts and crafts, sports coaching, outdoor activities, or similar practical and creative settings. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to support pupils' learning, communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

Role Responsibilities



Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with severe and complex learning needs Assist with personal care, mobility support, and sensory activities where required Support pupils with communication, behaviour regulation, and social development Deliver and support creative, physical, and sensory-based activities, including arts, crafts, music, and movement Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement individual education and care plans

What We're Looking For



Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly SLD or PMLD (professional or personal experience welcomed) A creative, proactive, and hands-on approach to learning support Confidence in leading or assisting with practical activities and active learning Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners Strong teamwork and communication skills

Pay: 13.68-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 32.5 per week
