We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support classroom activities and foster an inclusive learning environment in our Alternative Provision supporting challenging behaviours and SEND. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, students, and specialists to ensure that pupils, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities, receive personalised support. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development of children and gain valuable experience in education.
Duties
Able to deliver lessons and classroom activities tailored to individual student needs in a theraputic enviroment.
Support students with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilities
Provide one-on-one tutoring and mentoring to help pupils achieve their academic goals and support pupils to gain their accreditation.
Help manage behaviour and promote positive social interactions among pupils
Support students with communication difficulties by employing effective communication skills
Assist in preparing learning materials and organising classroom resources
Supervise students during breaks, lunch, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and engagement
Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all pupils
Requirements
Prior experience working with children, particularly in educational or tutoring settings
Knowledge of special education practices and working with people with disabilities and challenging behaviour is highly desirable
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pupils, teachers, and parents
Experience in mentoring or supporting children with diverse needs is advantageous
Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's development and learning
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Relevant qualifications or training in special education or related fields
Must be able to pass an inhanced DBS check.
