We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in

New Eltham

that is seeking a highly skilled Teaching Assistant to provide consistent, nurturing support to three siblings who are joining the school after missing a substantial amount of education due to a challenging home environment.

The children are placed across three separate classes in KS1 and KS2 and have limited foundational learning experience. They are likely to be reluctant with new adults, may struggle with routines, and will need a calm, trusted presence to help them settle, feel safe, and begin accessing learning.

Your Role

Provide

consistent 1:1 and small-group support

for three siblings across KS1 and KS2. Support pupils with

settling into school routines

, transitions, and relationships with adults and peers. Help pupils develop

early learning foundations

, including attention, communication, and basic academic skills. Use a

trauma-informed, nurturing approach

to support emotional regulation and engagement. Build strong, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, secure, and ready to learn. Work closely with class teachers to adapt learning tasks and provide appropriate scaffolding. Support behaviour calmly using reassurance, structure, and positive reinforcement. Monitor progress and contribute to reviews, meetings, and support plans. Act as a consistent, reliable adult presence throughout the school day.
What We're Looking For

GCSEs (or equivalent) in

English and Maths

(Grades 4-9). Significant experience working as a

Teaching Assistant

, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role in a

primary school

. Proven experience supporting pupils with

gaps in education

, additional needs, or challenging home circumstances. A strong understanding of

attachment-aware and trauma-informed practice

(desirable). A calm, patient, and resilient approach with high levels of empathy. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and families. A genuine passion for inclusive education and helping vulnerable children thrive.
