Full Time Fixed Term for 2 years

The role

The role requires the successful candidate to have excellent communication & interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop reflective & critical projects that explore issues of contemporary illustration and how they impact and engage with culture and society.

You will join a highly motivated programme team which enjoys significant opportunities and support for personal development. As well as having an established illustration profile and a professional contact network. You will be equally at ease in a lecture theatre, seminar or workshop setting and able to meet the needs of a large and diverse student body.

This role is for 35 hours a week, with a set working pattern determined by the Programme Leader

About you

Hands on working, guiding students to reach their potential will be at the heart of what you do. This is a chance for a vocational academic to indulge their passion, be an inspiring mentor and valued colleague, someone who brings something uniquely their own to the core team. This means you will need several strings to your bow.

You will also have a strong working knowledge of both digital & analogue processes within an illustration context. A drawing-based practice & specialist knowledge is required and specialist knowledge of at least one other illustrative practice is desirable. This may include animation, reportage, comics, editorial, 3D-making, interactive design, participatory arts, children\'s books, printmaking and other craft or digital tools.

As well as having experience in the illustration and its associated industries, you will have experience in teaching, be at ease in a lecture theatre & seminar setting, and able to meet the needs of a large & diverse student body. You should also have the ability to supervise and advise students on study skills, identifying their learning needs and defining learning objectives as well as assessing their work and providing constructive feedback.

All of this will empower you to create a rich and rewarding student experience to do so, you will be adept at communicating to a diverse range of individuals from varying backgrounds and have specialist knowledge and understanding of race, multiculturalism, and diversity.
