a unique collaboration between the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent, is seeking a Teaching SupportTechnicianto join our friendly and dedicated technical team.
Located at Chatham Maritime in Medway, Kent, our School supports approximately 600 undergraduateand 100+ postgraduate (FTE) students, including PhD researchers. We deliver high-quality education and research across a range of scientific disciplines.
As a Teaching Support Technician, you will work in our science-based laboratories, which include:
Chemistry
Drug Delivery
Biological Sciences
Micro/Molecular Sciences
You will provide technical support and assist with small group teaching for students enrolled in our Pharmacy programmes. Your work will directly support modules in Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, and Biological Science.
Please note that this role involves working full-time hours, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week for 30 weeks per year during term time.
What We're Looking For
We welcome applications from candidates who:
Hold a BTEC, equivalent or higher qualification in a science-related subject (Chemistry or Biological Sciences preferred).
Have at least a year's laboratory experience
,
even if not formally qualified.
Possess strong subject knowledge and a willingness to learn new skills.
Are flexible and able to work across multiple scientific disciplines.
Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, set up, clear away and maintain laboratory equipment and materials.
Support small groups of students during practical sessions with technical skills when required
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Contribute to the smooth running of the teaching laboratories.
