Key Requirements:

  • Previous experience in leading teams, ideally within a laboratory environment
  • Degree in a science discipline
  • Knowledge and experience working in a UKAS-accredited laboratory
  • Highly proficient in computer programs such as MS Office and data entry
  • Proven ability to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels in a professional manner at all times
  • Willing to be \xe2\x80\x9chands-on\xe2\x80\x9d working at all levels
  • A positive attitude, the ability to develop and initiate new procedures, a high tolerance for job pressure and the ability to work and communicate with diverse personalities Flexible approach to working hours
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY Due to continued growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst to carry out preparation and testing on submitted samples. This will include all testing, reporting, and preparation activities, using both basic and advanced instrument techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prioritise and perform the daily workload of the team to ensure the activities are completed efficiently and effectively in accordance with both approved technical standards and client instructions
  • Act as a role model to ensure technical requirements and team performance are delivered every day in line with customer expectations
  • Create quotations and manage client POs up to the maximum values defined in the Authority Matrix and seek approvals in excess of these amounts as required
  • Manage, support, and provide training of junior staff in routine and new analytical techniques, including agreed training plans
  • Responsible for the performance and turnaround of sample analysis of the testing team, in line with customer expectations
  • Prepare reports ensuring these are proofread and signed by an appropriately authorised signatory while also ensuring billing invoicing details are correct
  • Ensure that all equipment within the service line is maintained to acceptable operating and (where appropriate) valid calibration standards acting as first-line maintenance where required
  • Report all technical faults and non-conformance issues to the Head of Service Line providing technical information as required
  • Assist the Head of Service line in compiling and reporting service line KPIs for management review, feeding back areas of success and improvement to the team
  • Provide support for new projects, method development and validation work
  • Management and development of direct reports and supporting the wider colleague base, including all associated people responsibilities such as building a future talent pipeline, succession planning, recruitment and performance management Manage performance through regular communications including one-to-ones, team meetings and regular feedback
