What you'll be responsible for
As a Team Leader you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Food Waste Treatment Facility, working to agreed standards to ensure the organisation meets its health & safety, contractual, regulatory, operational and financial targets.
Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Permit (National Resource Wales), Animal by Products (ABP), DSEAR and PAS110 regulations is key to the role.
Alongside this, your role will also include:
To monitor, manage, maintain and adjust process parameters to ensure compliance whilst maximising process efficiencies (gas generation) and minimising negative impacts and outputs (waste) to ensure the highest possible rate of recycling is achieved.
To provide technical support and advice on matters related to the Anaerobic Digestion (AD) process to site staff and relevant stakeholders.
Being the point of contact for the operational team, maintenance teams and external contractors in relation, risk management, preparation of safety documents (permit to work), contingency planning and identifying and driving sustainable cost savings.
Playing a key role in developing and leading the operational team by undertaking regular Personal Management Reviews and individual monthly 121's, whilst developing team members understanding of process control, plant and equipment operation and maintenance through a combination of onsite personal interaction, instruction and training.
Actively taking the lead on key issues such as Health & Safety, ensuring that all incidents/accidents/near misses are recorded and undertake investigations.
Identifying, reporting, and resolving shortfalls in process operation, ensuring a safe working environment and be proactive in approach to un/planned events.
Organising shift rota, ensuring adequate cover is provided at all times.
Taking a rigorous approach to day-to-day operational procedures whilst being able to deal with complex customer and asset issues.
Ensuring that all instruments and control systems are maintained through interrogation of SCADA and trend analysis, so that the overall process is operating as efficiently as possible, and maximise the performance of the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit by liaising with the CHP Manager /call desk, engineers, and Energy Team.
Ensuring compliance with all Quality Management System (QMS) procedures, including the creation and regular review of work instructions, procedures, and risk assessments. Where required, inclusion with the preparation of and undertaking of audits.
Engage with existing and new suppliers, always maintaining strong working relationships whilst identifying and communicating methods for ensuring business continuity, specialist advice/services, service improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

About you
Previous experience in use of SCADA or alternative control system architectures
Operational experience working within a waste, water or Anaerobic Digestion industry
Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
Knowledge of health and safety legislation and its application
Understanding of waste or water treatment processes
Ability to prepare, issue and manage work permits and a future focused individual who can anticipate and influence positive changes within the team
Strong leadership capabilities and have ability to develop and mentor team members
Excellent communication skills which will enable you to liaise effectively with colleagues, customers, partners and site visitors
Enthusiastic and self-motivated, you will be able to work under your own initiative and be able to demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach to work
Good analytical problem solving skills and process understanding
Strong IT skills

The role is site based, working 37 hrs per week on a rotating shift pattern of 07.00 - 15.00: 14.00 - 22.00. There is a requirement to participate in a standby rota and having a flexible approach to accommodate shift cover when required (to include Saturday working 08.00 - 14.00 on a rotational basis).
