Job Description


SIG Plc. is a leading supplier of specialist building materials to trade customers across Europe with strong positions in its core markets as a specialist distributor of insulation and interiors products and as a merchant of roofing and exteriors products.

We are currently looking to recruit a Team Leader, who will be responsible for the day-to-day responsibility for leading a production team, provide exceptional customer service, have the drive for continuous improvement of the existing processes, ensure regulatory compliance standards are always complied with, drive the Key Performance Indicators that ensure you deliver improved efficiency and service. Review all production issues and implement appropriate action to mitigate our customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership (Safety) - You will lead by example an Engender \xe2\x80\x9cZero Harm\xe2\x80\x9d culture within your team, which recognises and promotes the absolute importance of health and safety and environmentally responsible behaviour within the team where health and safety of every team member is the number one priority. You will assist with the reviews and updates of all Risk Assessments and Standard Operations Procedures.

Guidance (Quality) - You will have the gravitas and experience to make a difference, be able to influence your direct reports, be used to a high degree of empowerment and will understand how to get things done in a fast-moving change environment, analyse and develop the operations, identifying opportunities for change and continuous improvement by challenging existing practices.
Be the front runner for never passing a fault forward, and when identifying any issues, ensuring that the corrective actions are carried out and reported on efficiently.

Direction (Cost) - You will ensure that excellent production process disciplines are prevalent within the team, continuously reviewing performance against planned waste levels, review the quality process controls to improve right first-time approach, will have safety at the forefront of everything you do, deliver customer service through efficiency including the implementation of corrective action to ensure you maximise the use of your resources in order to minimise cost and maximise profit.

Aligned Results (Delivery)- You will be used to implementing corrective action, have a proven record of hitting targets and holding others to account for doing so. You can identify issues using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness System, Quality Management System and the engineering Pirana System generating KPI\'s and financial results, eliminating negative trends before a pattern is established.

Instruction (People)- You will be empowered to deploy your team to make best use of the talent for longer term succession planning. You will support the recruitment process, develop, retain, appropriately reward and recognise the achievements of talented staff who strongly associate with the culture of the Company and who will be able to drive the business forward.

Lead By Example (Behaviours) - Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People will be at the centre of your values. You will act as a role model for your team where you are expected to demonstrate the SIG behaviours and engender a culture within your team to generate profit. You will ensure that all employees are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Be a quality process and product champion and ensure that the procedures required to ensure success are adhered to by all operational staff.

The successful candidate will require:

  • Excellent people management skills with strong Communication and Coaching skills.
  • Experience of managing small teams. Setting, Monitoring, and Reviewing of objectives, performance targets and the development of their team.
  • Capable of driving operations efficiency improvement.
  • High achiever who is Systematic and likes to work to demanding goals and targets.
  • Strong Customer Focus with an in-depth understanding of Manufacturing Excellence.
  • Personally, well Organised, a good Planner with structured Problem Solving and Decision-Making ability.
  • Technically excellent, Pragmatic, Resilient and able to Influence.
  • Have experience of ensuring quality output requirements are met to the Standards required. Be proficient in Avoidable process and product failures.

  • Need to be Flexible with working hours, (shift work and overtime as and when required).
  • Be available for planned Stock Takes which are business critical in June and November on an annual basis.
  • Be available to give daily, weekly, and monthly feedback on the QMS and also whenever required.
