JOB DESCRIPTION:



TITLE TEAM LEADER



MAIN AREA OF WORK: Broadoak, Newnham on Severn, Gloucestershire, GL14 1JF

HOURS: 42 per week

ANNUAL LEAVE: AS PER CONTRACT

RESPONSIBLE FOR: DAY CARE TEAM

ACCOUNTABLE TO: Stepping Stones MANAGEMENT TEAM

AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

MINIMUM QUAL'S: HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE DIPLOMA LEVEL 3.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:



Client focussed responsibilities:

To ensure that people in our care are encouraged to participate as fully as possible in decisions affecting their lives, acting as a keyworker where appropriate.

Ensure there is active involvement in the development and continuity of each individual's personal plan.

Ensure that individuals are encouraged and enabled to take responsibility of planning and continuing their own daily programmes.

Encourage and enable each individual to take responsibility for their own actions, bearing in mind risk taking and relevant policy.

Encourage each individual to manage their own domestic and personal resources as far as their own abilities determine.

Encourage each individual to take responsibility for their personal hygiene and appearance.

To participate in all areas of decision making in relation to the people in our care.

Give active encouragement and support to KEYWORKERS and other staff members to implement personal plans and help to develop the means to enable an individual to reach their full potential.

Take part in case conferences and comply with the recommendations of the conference as required under the direction of management.

Take part in the review of each individual which they have involvement with, in line with the operational policy of the Organisation, and be involved in the compilation of future plans and their implementation.

Be an advocate for each individual and to ensure that their rights and choices are recognised and respected.

Contribute to the ongoing support of each individual and those significant to them.

Contribute to the protection of all individuals from abuse.

Staff focussed responsibilities:



Undertake any training set down by Management.

To be aware of all policies and procedures relating to the Units and to ensure they are implemented as necessary.

Under the direction of Management, ensure Health and Safety rules are observed and to participate in regular drills, checks and training and deemed appropriate.

Participate in specified meetings, including supervisory sessions.

In conjunction with Management, other staff and the people in our care, maintain suitable records and reports on the progress of each individual.

Effectively communicate any information received to all relevant members of staff and Management at the earliest opportunity.

In liaison with Team Leader colleagues to compile and monitor work rotas to ensure that adequate staff cover is maintained at all times.

Ensure that sickness and holiday cover is monitored at all times. To report on a daily basis to the Administration Office to advise/confirm any absence from your team.

TEAM LEADERS:



In addition to the role of carer, as a Team leader you will have additional responsibilities.

To ensure that those within your team follow the job description set out for carers and support them in doing so.

To ensure there is a professional and effective team approach and promote appropriate communication throughout the entire Organisation.

The overall standard of practice and care is one of your main areas of responsibility. It will be part of this duty to support and supervise your team to ensure through your own practice and example, the highest quality of care is maintained throughout the organisation.

To plan and organise your shifts effectively, deploying team members appropriately.

Lead team meetings/discussions and record minutes/outcomes. Participate in meetings with other team leaders and members of the management team, passing on decisions/outcomes to your team members as appropriate.

Ensure daily records and reports are completed before the end of your shifts. Ensure that the team taking over from you has been given the correct information and are aware of any potential difficulties that may arise.

Liaise with the Management Team on any issues at all times through meetings and open discussions.

Ensure team members are given guidance and support in managing stress.

To assist in the identification of development and training needs of yourself and your team, through supervision and appraisal meetings.

To participate in the recruitment and selection processes for new staff.

Participate in the induction process of new staff.

To ensure that adequate arrangements for the introduction and reception of new clients are made.

Assisting in the liaison of various professionals and families will be an important element of the role. A professional attitude and approach must be insisted upon at all times.

To ensure that regulations arising from the Health and Social Care Act are adhered to at all times.

This job description is intended as a guide to the role of a Team leader and may, in future, be amended to reflect the changing needs of the service which Stepping Stones provides and promotes.

Pay: 31,536.96 per year
