About us



Libury Hall is community for 40 residents who live here because they need, or have needed in the past, varying degrees of practical, physical and emotional support in certain aspect of daily living. Libury Hall is based in a rural location. The aim is to provide for their care needs in a supportive but also stimulating environment. Some residents live in the main building and the majority live in cottages within the grounds and do quite a lot for themselves under the general care and supervision of staff.

Some residents have mental health difficulties, others have learning difficulties; or a combination of both. The fact that some have lived in institutions for many years means that helping them to recover lost skills and to enjoy as full and varied a life as possible is an important aspect of the work for care staff. All staff need to give the necessary help in a way that respects residents and treats them with dignity and that encourages them to retain or regain as much independence and control of their own lifestyle as possible. A day centre onsite helps with embedding and developing daily living skills.

Main purpose of the job:



To support the team and the Manager in providing the best possible quality of life for the service users

To carry out all duties as instructed in a satisfactory manner and in accordance with Libury Hall's behavioural framework, values, principles, aims and objectives.

To work within legal requirements, relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.

To take responsibility for leading shifts/rotas, guiding and developing strategies throughout the shift to enable a consistent and effective delivery of care.

MAIN DUTIES



1. Service User Support



1.1 Provide and monitor other team members to provide the best possible emotional, spiritual, physical support.

1.2 Assist in the implementation and co-ordination of Individual Planning for the support and development of each service user.

1.3 To actively participate in the key working process.

1.4 Assist with team meetings to ensure that Individual and Care Plan goals are discussed, and staff team members are kept informed of any changes.

1.5 Assist the implementation, co-ordination and monitoring of Whole Life Review and Care Planning Approach in line with the organisation policies and statutory local authority requirements.

1.6 To ensure that current issues or changes in service users' health, behavioural, emotional, psychological or mental health needs are reported on our digital care planning system and are reported to the Manager and in the absence of the Manager/Director the relevant professionals and seek support as required.

1.7 In conjunction with the Manager ensure that the care and support given to the service users by the team is consistent and that the team is working to share aims and objectives along with knowledge shared within meetings.

1.8 Assist in the support of service users moving into the home.

1.9 To ensure that service user has opportunity to express their views and are supported in developing skills to do so.

1.10 Ensure that you and all members of the team are respectful of all personal, spiritual, and cultural beliefs, wishes and customs.

1.11 Within this role you will be expected to carry out other duties in areas of the home e.g. Laundry and Kitchen together with minimal maintenance tasks as required.

2. Health and Safety



2.1 To carry out all individual responsibilities as defined by organisational policy and Health and Safety at Work Act.

3. Administration and Finance



3.1 To complete, maintain and store all necessary records all aspects of medication, storage, dispensing following the guidelines for best practise. Other records include Accident and Incident reports, record financial transactions, service user logbooks, staff communication and hand-over records, diary entries, minutes of meetings, reports and meet deadlines as defined by the Manager.

3.2 To complete own records related to own employment (for example - appraisals, time sheet, working time directive, training requests).

3.3. To undertake any delegated responsibilities in relation to the home's business plan.

3.4 To take responsibility for cash as required from the service users bank account when appropriate.

3.5 To deal with all information in line with the organisation's policy and procedure on Confidentiality.

4. Relationships and Communication



4.1 To work as an integral member of the team.

4.2 To attend and participate in meetings, recording minutes and maintaining records as required.

4.3 To promote and develop your own and Support Workers relationships in respect of individual's relatives, friends and acquaintances.

4.4 To develop positive, professional, effective working relationships with relevant Libury Hall personnel and external professionals.

4.5 In a professional manner, take and relay both written and verbal messages, taking appropriate action when required.

4.6 To immediately report to the Manager the receipt of any complaint.

4.7 To report all relevant information / changes in service users and household needs by recording on our digital care planning system and to the rest of the team and the Manager as appropriate.

4.8 To present oneself in a professional manner at all times.

4.9 To report any staff issues which may bring the home into disrepute.

5. Training and Development



5.1 To participate in the supervision process and performance reviews: participating in setting and achieving own development/performance objectives and making changes in practise as required.

5.2 To attend and participate in internal and external individual and team training and development activities.

5.3 To achieve the relevant NVQ qualification appropriate to the role.

5.4 To actively participate in the induction process along with supporting and developing the staff within your team- making sure that deadlines as required are met and the training undertaken is both satisfactory and relevant to the needs of your team.

To carry out any other duties that may be reasonably expected.



Rural Location



Libury Hall is based in a beautiful rural location in Hertfordshire near Ware. A driving license is required for this role. Your own mode of transport to commute to Libury Hall is required.

Eligibility to live and work in the UK is required. (

Person specification



Essential



Relevant experience

Experience working in the care industry, ideally in a similar role,

Experience working with individuals with mental health, this may be through work or personal experiences,

Level 2 or greater in health and social care

Driving license

Have access to their own transport to be able to commute to Libury Hall

Eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Flexibility to work shifts and weekends,
