We are recruiting a

Team Leader / Shift Leader

to join our

Ofsted-regulated therapeutic children's residential home

in Goff's Oak, Cheshunt. This is a hands-on leadership position where you will guide a team, lead shifts and support young people aged 10-17 with emotional, behavioural and social needs.

This role offers the opportunity to combine direct care with leadership, influence therapeutic practice and play a key role in helping children and young people build resilience, independence and brighter futures.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Support for Young People

Build positive, therapeutic relationships as a key adult Support daily routines such as meals, education, activities and family contact Use trauma-informed and child-centred approaches Monitor placement plans, behaviour and emotional wellbeing Work with external professionals to ensure consistent care

Leadership and Team Support

Lead 3-4 shifts per week and act as senior member on duty Allocate tasks, deliver handovers and mentor Support Workers Help maintain a professional, reflective and supportive team environment

Safeguarding & Behaviour Monitoring

Respond professionally to incidents, disclosures and risks Lead debriefs and support emotional regulation after incidents Track safeguarding concerns, behavioural patterns and risk factors

Operational & Compliance Duties

Oversee medication, household safety, records and shift paperwork Audit daily logs, keywork, incidents and care plans Maintain Ofsted-compliant standards of care, documentation and environment

What We're Looking For

Minimum

2 years' experience

in children's residential care or equivalent setting

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare

(or working towards) Experience leading shifts, mentoring or delegating tasks Strong safeguarding knowledge and trauma-informed approach Calm, confident, resilient leadership style Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills Full UK driving licence preferred
