An exciting, permanent opportunity has arisen within the Housing Division of the Communities Service. We are looking for an energetic, driven, and influential leader for the role of Team Leader - Housing.
Reporting to the Service Manager, you will be responsible for the operational service delivery for tenants in the City locality as well as some specialist responsibilities delivered across all Localities. These services/responsibilities include;
Locality responsibilities:
Management of the City Locality Housing Team- Locality Co-ordinator (direct report) and responsibility for Housing Officers, Housing Assistants and Senior Clerical Assistants within this team
Oversight of all operational functions
Corporate complaints handling and dealing with Members of (the Scottish) Parliament and Elected Members enquiries
Monitoring and ensuring continuous improvements in relation to performance for City areas.
Specialist responsibilities (management of staff and operational functions):
Older Persons' Housing Service (Sheltered and Retirement Housing)
Greyfriars Homeless Hostel
Housing Support Service
Registered Manager for the Older Persons' Housing and Support Services.
We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is good team player understanding the need to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners and who recognises and values other people's strengths. You must, however, be able to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision and can resolve problems independently, offer solutions and work to a "Think YES" approach. Whilst much of the role covers the operational management of services, you will be expected to contribute to the development of the vision and strategic objectives of these services.
You will be accountable for closely monitoring a range of funding streams, ensuring that these are well-managed. You will also be required to produce quality progress reports for a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will need to monitor and report on performance through our established Performance Management Frameworks and carry out regular quality assurance audits, implementing improvements where required.
You will report to the Service Manager and will be responsible for the direct line management of staff and broader oversight of a diverse set of multiple Teams and operational services primarily for Council tenants.
The standard hours of work for this role are Monday to Friday from 8.45 to 5pm but due to the level and the nature of the post, there will be an expectation that you will work flexibly, and this could include evenings and weekends for example to attend public meetings and events.
You will be required to participate in the Out of Hours Standby rota which involves being on call for one whole week, approximately every 10 weeks. You will receive a weekly standby payment for being on call (currently 127.81 per week).
