Full Time, Permanent, 36.5 hours per week

Travel:

Caterpillar Peterlee is the worldwide source of Cat Articulated Trucks, currently producing an 8-model range used in many industries including mining, construction and aggregates. The facility's manufacturing activities use the latest computer analysis techniques, robotic technology and a state-of-the-art paint plant. Machines from the site are shipped to customers around the world.



The Opportunity




The Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day management, coaching and development of a functional work group. This is a pivotal role in the organization and is fundamental to the ongoing development of a team working culture and deployment of Caterpillar Production Systems (CPS) to ensure that business targets and objectives are achieved in the areas of safety, quality, velocity and cost reduction.

What You Will Do



Manage the manpower within their team to ensure that absenteeism, holidays, secondments etc are covered and when necessary, stand in for team members for short periods of time Ensure that their team members have the relevant skills appropriate to the job role before putting them on a job or task Assist Section Managers in completing appraisals by providing verbal feedback on team members Provide positive reinforcement of a job well done and for coaching when necessary Assist the Section Managers in capacity planning and training as required Ensure that all training records are up to date, accurate and visible Provide clear direction and lead by example Assist in collecting data for rotas and monitor that they are up to date and accurate Bring any potential disciplinary issues to the attention of the Section Manager Participate in the recruitment and interviewing of employees from both internal and external sources Maintain high morale and team spirit through continuous coaching and communication Participate in Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIW) for their assigned area of responsibility

What You Will Have



A recognised apprenticeship in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline, an ONC, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 in Maintenance or Engineering equivalent qualification Maintenance and fault-finding experience in a manufacturing environment An interest in problem solving and passion to learn Highly motivated with a proactive attitude towards continuous improvement Strong communication skills Ability to work as part of a team and be comfortable to work independently

Top candidates will also have:



Experience of leading, developing and motivating a team Experience with PLCs NEBOSH/IOSH Qualification or evidence of safety improvement activities Firm believer in accepting change and have a keen interest in seeing people develop
