Job Purpose



To support and lead the team in the Registered Manager's absence.

To implement support plans by directly providing practical, physical, social, and emotional support to the children placed within the residential children's home. To create a supportive family atmosphere where children are well cared for, kept safe from harm, are happy, healthy, can repair from past trauma, kept safe from harm and able to thrive and flourish. To work in line with all current legislation and regulations, including The Children's Home Regulations and Cumbria Quality Cares policies and procedures.

Main Activities



You will be required to provide caring, responsive, nurturing care for looked after children within the children's residential home, ensuring that the children's physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs are met. Children you support will have a variety of needs such as support relating to social, emotional, and behavioural support needs.

Following all relevant legislation and regulations, including the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 .

Attend key meetings, perform the duties of a key worker, support the development of support workers within their roles.

Specific Duties



Supporting children to grow, develop, feel safe and thrive. Supporting children to access the local community. Supporting children to regulate and understand their emotions. Support children to manage their behaviour. Support children to engage in family contact, (if appropriate). Supporting children to engage in education. Supporting children to lead active, healthy lives. Support children's relationships with friends and other professionals. Support children to make choices and identifying risks within choices. Communicating effectively with children, multi-disciplinary teams and Cumbria Quality Care. Keeping accurate, factual written accounts of your time with the children. Following the Cumbria Quality Care policies and procedures. To actively oppose discriminatory practises. Knowledge and expertise



Experience supporting children in a residential children's home.
Qualifications

Diploma Level 3 or 4 Children's Residential Care (or equivalant)

Essential requirements



An enhanced disclosure with the Criminal Records Bureau. Two suitable references.
