Purpose



To provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership within your department for the purpose of achieving company aligned objectives whilst carrying out the same job roles as other members of the team, offering support and solutions to complex queries and implementing improvement projects.

Description



Lead by example, motivate and develop team to ensure planned output requirements/quality and safety standards are met

Take a proactive approach to resolving departmental issues whilst striving to achieve on time production to customer within the team

Communicate any issues that may affect the quality or safety of the product

Review team performance regularly to identify areas for improvement and encourage progress of individual team members through performance appraisal review and develop and deliver agreed personal development plans.

Ensure departmental objectives are met and work is produced in line with order requirements

Plan overtime requirements and forecasting requirements within budget

Ensure all site-specific housekeeping standards are kept up to 5S standards

Ensure compliance with all required documentation relating to specific industry and quality standards

Ensure daily communications occur with the team ensuring all relevant information is available to carry out their duties to maximum effect

Contribute to the planning, organisation, operation and installation of all new processes and equipment within the factory as required

Assist with safety inspections and audits and submit to H&S committee for action.

Awareness of company policies

Self-development and attendance at training programmes to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills.

Understand and participate in enforcing Sigma Components Core Values, why they exist and how work procedures and practices support best practice

Support training plans for apprentice program

Support other Team Leaders as appropriate in general day to day tasks

Support training programs for your team as identified

Responsible for health & safety within your department and reporting timely

Responsible for upholding the professional reputation of Sigma throughout your scope of responsibility

Work in line with customer's drawings and processes to make parts.

Working aspect of the role

Cut and prepare parts for welding

Assemble Details

Prepare parts for swaging

Dress and set parts after heat treatment or welding

Use special processes where required to achieve required outcomes

Polish / dress parts to required standards

Debur parts where required

Responsible for ensuring batch cards are stamped and the BDE is updated accordingly.

Responsible for booking on and off jobs in a timely manner

Fully responsible for the quality of personal work produced.

To ensure that all customer quality standards are achieved.

Profile



Ability to manage a team of individuals

Demonstrate a professional attitude

Knowledge and practical implementation of Lean Manufacturing

Familiar with logical Bills of Material structures

Production of manufacturing documentation in support of detail manufacture

Maintenance procedures for manufacturing equipment

Ability to assume responsibility for projects and project judgement with a demonstrable creative and innovative approach

Proven capability in creating a "can-do" environment

Continuous improvement will be deployed across all activities

Where appropriate you will be responsible for liaising with the customer on any issue

Involved in cost reduction exercises

Good understanding of manufacturing methods

Good understanding of tooling requirements, workability and Aerospace Materials

Validating processes in manufacture

You will be expected to always demonstrate a proactive attitude to your team

It will be your responsibility to ensure that the highest quality standards are maintained

A hands-on practical background within your scope of responsibility

Understand customer requirements, and determine the appropriate resolution or area of responsibility

Good communication skills with all audiences

Computer literate

Previous experience working with exotic sheet metal to fine tolerances

Competent in reading engineering drawings

Desirable but not essential:

Indentured apprenticeship within the aerospace industry or similar

Experience with AS9100 quality requirements

Experience of working with the demands of key customers like British Aerospace, Airbus and Bombardier.

Experience in the following disciplines would be an advantage; Sheet Metal, Coppersmith, Welding and Machining

Evaluation of the appropriate processes to be employed in manufacture and provisioning tooling, gauging and production equipment in support.

Experience within a manufacturing organisation (preferably Aerospace)

Contributing to continuous improvement through quality improvements and process time reduction

Investigation and possible justification of new equipment and processes into the business

This role is based at Farnborough.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to 40,680.00 per year
