1.1 To lead and manage a team of social workers, delivering professional and effective social care services in compliance with legislative frameworks and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Practice for Social Care Workers.
1.2 To provide operational leadership, vision, and strategic direction, driving service improvement within a social care setting, including services for disabled children or fostering and adoption.
1.3 The postholder will manage a team of seven staff comprising social workers, senior social workers, senior practitioners, and social work support staff.
1.4 To be accountable for the delivery of team objectives in line with the operational plan by fostering a high-performance culture, empowering staff, and maintaining measurable standards of excellence in practice.
2. General Duties and ResponsibilitiesService Effectiveness
2.1 Deliver a child-centred service that is legally compliant and leads to measurable improvements in outcomes for children and young people.
2.2 Ensure the promotion and safeguarding of children's welfare remains at the heart of service delivery.
2.3 Monitor and maintain quality assurance through reflective supervision, regular case audits, and professional feedback.
Resource Management
2.4 Support budget oversight and contribute to financial efficiency to ensure best value for children and families.
2.5 Provide staff with the necessary tools, support, and safe working conditions to carry out their roles effectively, assessing and mitigating risks appropriately.
Leadership and Change Management
2.6 Lead a team of over seven social work professionals, ensuring regular supervision and robust performance management systems.
2.7 Manage the allocation of cases to ensure timely, specialist assessments and appropriate support for children, carers, and families.
2.8 Promote and support continuous professional development across the team.
Collaborative Working
2.9 Build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to foster collaborative, multi-agency approaches to service delivery.
