Strength & Learning Through Horses is looking for a motivated, compassionate and experienced Team Manager to lead our equine assisted therapy and wellbeing service. This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical leadership with holistic, equine assisted therapeutic work to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people with complex mental health needs.
We work primarily with young people who are excluded or at risk of being excluded from mainstream education, experiencing social, emotional or mental health difficulties. As Team Manager, you'll ensure high-quality, person-centred support through our equine therapy services while also managing a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of mental health practitioners and support staff.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Lead the day-to-day operations of our therapeutic services
Line manage Mental health service staff / practitioners
Support organisational development
Work collaboratively with the Education Service Lead; Operations Manager and Senior Management in the planning and delivery of the service and it's outcomes
To ensure all policies, processes and guidelines required for for effective management of the service are in place and adhered to and manage staff to ensure implementation.
Participate in quality assurance, audits, safeguarding reviews and incident debriefs
Lead on Service User Involvement to promote and embed beneficiary views in the design, development and delivery of services including ongoing processes to measure the impact service user feedback has on the service
Play a key role in safeguarding management (Deputy Safeguarding Lead or DSL responsibilities)
Oversight of the delivery of outcomes for young people; oversight of reporting to schools and referrals
Management of staffing needs for the Mental Health Team, including recruitment of additional team members, coordination of continuing professional development and training and handling of performance related processes.
Management of Mental Health Trainee offer including developing new initiatives to encourage students from a range of modalities and backgrounds to train at SLTH
Service Development
Work with Senior Clinicians to design and delivery of innovative and effective programmes using equine assisted interventions.
Ensure services are responsive, evidence-informed and reflect the voices of young people and their families.
Clinical Oversight
Support the team in assessing and managing complex cases, including risk assessments, designing and delivering care plans, and attending multi-agency reviews.
Ensure all interventions are aligned with ethical and professional standards, including safeguarding responsibilities.
Partnership & Community Engagement
Build strong working relationships with schools, local authorities, NHS services and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) partners.
Promote co-production and involve young people in service design and evaluation.
Represent the charity at professional networks and forums.
Operational Management
Manage rotas, staffing, performance monitoring and HR processes.
Monitor budgets and resources, ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
Contribute to strategic planning, funding bids and stakeholder reporting.
Work with the team to design & deliver effective and innovative staff training to address performance management needs and compliment the objectives of the organisation
What We're Looking For
Essential
Relevant professional qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, education or youth work OR management and project management experience within a health care setting.
Proven leadership and line management skills.
Ability to manage risk, safeguarding and complex cases in a multi-agency context.
Strong written and verbal communication, including report writing and professional correspondence.
Ability to design and implement new organisational processes to address business challenges
Desirable
Experience working with vulnerable young people in mental health, education, or social care settings.
Experience with animal or equine-assisted therapeutic approaches.
Knowledge of the third sector or alternative education
Experience in service development or quality improvement.
Additional therapeutic training (e.g. CBT, systemic therapy, creative arts therapies).
