Progress Engineering provides bespoke engineering services combining machining, fabrication and finishing in a 20,000 sq. ft. facility We're proud of our ISO 9001:2015 accreditation and our ability to handle projects in sectors such as food/pharmasuitical, marine/offshore and renewables.
Purpose of Role:
Support the technical, administrative and coordination functions required to keep our operations efficient, compliant and responsive. You'll work closely with shop floor, engineering, quality and management teams. This is a full time role but part-time might be concidered for the right candidate.
Person Spec. You will need to be:
Pro-active.
Able to efficiently prioritise tasks.
Comfortable learning and implementing new skills.
Be able to work as part of a team.
Be comfortable using PC's and general office software.
Exposure to an engineering/manufacturing environment would be useful but not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as first point of contact for internal teams (machining, fabrication, finishing & assembly) and external stakeholders (suppliers, clients) for technical/administrative queries.
Assist in preparing quotations or responses to technical enquiries: collate data, input into templates, liaise with management/engineering.
Help with maintaining our factory management system ensuring data integrity.
Generate and produce periodic reports.
General office duties: answer phone/email, schedule meetings, order supplies, update job cards, maintain shared drives/folders, invoicing etc.
Manage documentation: drawings, revision controls, job cards
Ad hoc tasks as required
Skills & Experience:
Strong organisational skills; able to manage competing priorities, maintain accurate records, meet deadlines.
Good attention to detail--especially when dealing with technical drawings, customer requests and quotes.
Proficient in MS Office, Access and Excel and ideally experience with CRM.
Good written and verbal communication skills--able to liaise with managers, engineers, fabricators, suppliers and clients.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing/engineering environment. Understanding of the terminology and workflows is a plus.
Previous experience in a technical/administrative role in manufacturing would be beneficial.
Desirable:
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems and document control.
Basic understanding of engineering manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, finishing) and associated certifications.
Familiarity with CAD drawings or drawings review.
Experience in preparing quotes or technical correspondence.
Working Patterns & Environment:
Based at Bodmin, Cornwall. On-site presence required and own transport essential as public transport is not an option.
Manufacturing environment: some noise, heavy equipment, so adherence to health & safety is essential.
Office space adjacent to production zone; liaising across departments.
Full-time role: Monday to Friday, 7am to 4:15pm and 7am to 12:15pm Friday.
