Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Stairways Group in the Technical arena. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic team player to join our Staircase technical department within the Walsall operation. This role works closely with external clients & internal departments, such as manufacturing. The role would suit an individual from within the building products / construction sector performing in a manufacturing, estimating or technical function. Full training to carry out this role will be provided.

Walsall is a mass production, manufacturing unit, manufacturing timber Staircases for the country's largest Housebuilders & Developers as well as some of the most prestigious developments across the UK and is largely co-ordinated by the use of CNC machines to create the core components of the staircase.

This role holds responsibility to ensure that the operational demands are met in accordance with the companies' procedures. All components need to be produced to accurate guidelines and delivered to the very best quality.

Job Purpose:

Working as part of the Staircase division technical team to create paperwork for the manufacture of staircases

Reporting to:

Administration and Customer Services Manager

Hours of Work:

0830 - 1700 Monday - Wednesday, 0800 - 1700 Thursday & 0800 - 1500 Friday.

Salary:

Depending upon experience, monthly paid via electronic transfer

Contract:

Full time permanent position

Holidays:

28 Days including Bank Holidays and Xmas Shutdown

Pension:

Nest (1%EE, 1%ER)

Job Tasks

To participate in the production of staircase manufacturing details to a required specification.

Use of the staircase design package in order to create workable drawings for manufacture.

Use of the staircase design package to create programmes for CNC machining

Liaise with customers to gather required information, as necessary.

Work as part of the Stairways Group team to provide a proactive service to all departments.

Good general housekeeping within working environment

Quality checks to ensure high standards for all processes

Qualifications / Experience

An understanding of timber staircase manufacture is desirable, but not essential. A background from a similar sector would be advantageous.

High level of computer literacy including knowledge of CNC operations

Knowledge of the construction world

Understanding of various applicable building standards and regulations would be an advantage, however full training will be given & updates maintained.

Pro-active, ability to work on own initiative and within a team

Good communication skills, both to internal colleagues & clients, over the telephone and via email.

Good telephone manner
