Technical and Quality Manager
Livesey Brothers is the UK's leading grower of Woodland Mushrooms and a proud third generation family run business based in Leicestershire. We have been farming mushrooms for 60 years and are proud of having an established long-standing business within our local community. We grow six distinct species of Woodland Mushrooms, supplying to the UK's largest supermarkets, including Sainsburys, Waitrose, Morrisons, and Asda as well as some of the top food service providers.
We have an exciting opportunity to be a part of our team taking on a role that is central to the success of our operations. We are looking to appoint a Technical and Quality Manager who will be responsible for leading and maintaining all food safety, quality, legality and compliance systems here at Livesey Brothers. This role ensures that all products grown and packed on our site in Leicestershire meets BRCGS, legal and customer standards while supporting business growth, innovation and continuous improvement.
The role spans our Growing and Packing environments and includes oversight of New Product Development (NPD), raw materials, supplier approval, audits, complaints and factory hygiene systems.
The role will be full time (40 hour week) - Monday to Friday
Your key tasks will include:
Own and maintain the BRCGS Food Safety Management System
Ensure full compliance with:
BRCGS
Red Tractor and LEAF standards
UK Food Law
Customer codes of practice
HACCP & allergen management
Lead and maintain the HACCP system, ensuring it remains robust, validated and up to date
Audit & Compliance
Lead all BRC audits, customer audits and regulatory inspections- maintain audit readiness at all times
Manage non-conformances, root cause analysis and corrective actions
Ensure traceability, mass balance and product recall systems are fully tested and effective
Technical and Quality Leadership
Lead and develop the small (currently 3 individuals) Quality Control team
Provide daily Technical and Quality support to Production- act as the technical authority for food safety decisions
Continue to develop the strong food safety culture throughout the business
NPD & Product Approval
Oversee technical approval of new products and suppliers
Supplier & Raw Material Assurance
Manage supplier approval and monitoring
Packaging approval using customer portals
Packaging stock take and packaging ordering including, film, punnets and labels
Review supplier audits, specifications and risk ratings
Complaints, Incidents & Continuous Improvement
Lead all customer complaints and quality incidents -carry out root cause analysis and implement preventive actions
Drive continuous improvement throughout the buisness
Skills & Experience Required/Essential
Proven experience as a Technical/Quality Manager in food manufacturing
Strong knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and UK food law
Experience managing audits and customer standards
Level 3 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent)
Desirable
Experience within Fresh Produce industry
Level 4 HACCP Qualification
