Job Title: Senior Technical Architect
Location: East Midlands and Remote

Reports To: Programme Director

Job Summary



We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Architect to design and oversee the rationalisation of high-performance, scalable, and secure technical solutions across a region with multiple NHS Trusts. You will serve as a strategic advisor, guiding cross-functional teams on technical decisions, architecture standards, and best practices. You will work closely with business stakeholders, product managers, and engineering teams to align technology with strategic goals and recommend opportunities to rationalise the technology estate.

Responsibilities



Design and document systems and technical architecture solutions aligned with business requirements. Lead architecture and design discussions with cross-functional teams. Provide hands-on guidance to development teams during implementation. Establish technical standards and best practices, ensuring consistency across projects. Identify, mitigate, and manage technical risks throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure architectural alignment with enterprise architecture, security policies, and regulatory requirements in an NHS environment. Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to drive innovation and efficiency. Create a report outlining the opportunities for rationalisation across the client base, including the benefits case.

Required Qualifications



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred). 7+ years of experience in various technologies or systems architecture, including software development, databases, networking and cloud computing with at least 3 years in the healthcare domain. Strong understanding of healthcare IT systems, including EHR/EMR (e.g. Epic, Cerner, Meditech), HIEs, and healthcare data exchange standards. Proven experience designing complex software systems, platforms, or infrastructure with a view to rationalisation. Strong knowledge of architectural patterns, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, and API design. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to influence a group of technical architects throughout the project. Ability to think strategically about the long-term implications of technical decisions. Ability to document and present technical designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities



Design and implement scalable software solutions for health systems, ensuring adherence to SDLC best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate APIs and enhance system functionality. Utilize cloud architecture principles to optimize application performance on platforms like AWS and Google Cloud. Develop and maintain technical documentation using UML and other modeling tools. Lead continuous integration efforts to streamline development processes and improve deployment efficiency.

Qualifications



Master's degree in Computer Science or related field Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent experience Certifications (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, TOGAF, etc.). Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence). Proficiency in software development and SDLC Strong knowledge of APIs and cloud architecture, particularly AWS Experience with ASP.NET, Angular, and JavaScript Familiarity with continuous integration and Docker Understanding of service-oriented architecture and NoSQL databases Background in healthcare. Understanding of emerging technologies in healthcare, such as AI/ML, IoMT, or digital front door strategies.
Job Type: Temporary
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: 371.00-509.00 per day
