TEAM The Network Team is responsible for the seamless delivery of all IT services across LAN and WAN including critical Commercial and Operational traffic. We form part of our Network and Infrastructure Competency Centre which are a tight-knit team of professionals, working closely with our colleagues in every other part of the business in a fast paced, competitive environment. Our architects also work cross functionally and collaboratively with all other architects in our architecture community. JOB PURPOSE Working in a dynamic environment the Technical Architect is responsible for the technical design of applications and platforms within the IT estate, specifically our vast network spread between all our office and operational sites; adhering to enterprise standards and best practice. The role works closely with enterprise architects, solution architects, business analysts, developers and delivery managers to own our network design and deliver IT Change that meets the needs of projects and programmes within easyJet’s enterprise portfolio. JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accountable for preparing and maintaining technical architecture artefacts for IT WAN, LAN and Wifi network services and platforms including AS-IS, TO-BE and transitional states for these network capabilities.
Ensure that the design meets the non-functional requirements of the Hosting Strategy, including (but not limited to) -

Accountable to prepare or support with designing and documenting technical solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
Assist in cloud migrations and implementations ensuring designs conform to security standards and policies.
Undertake the appropriate training and knowledge sharing with other teams (Including 3rd parties where required).
Co-ordinate overarching network sizing, capacity planning and forecasting on behalf of easyJet (working with internal and external teams) and own our networking lifecycle to ensure we remain in mainstream support.
Collaborating with enterprise architecture and peers to identify and agree the technical standards, frameworks, tooling and patterns for technical solutions adhering to enterprise standards and best practice.
Supporting solution architects in the creation of end-to-end architecture. Accountable for the related technical design and any amendments resulting from Technical Design Assurance
Provide technical expertise, guidance and technical assurance to developers/engineers ensuring consistency and conformity to agreed standards.
Collaborate with key business stakeholders to identify existing or future exploitable opportunities to drive business value.
Actively contribute at all stages of the development lifecycle ensuring technical architecture standards are considered.
Working with onshore and nearshore vendor support and development teams as required.
Assisting the Network Manager with managing costs across all areas of the network and working with suppliers to drive down costs while maintaining operational excellence.
Input and support the wider TA community in the review of designs at Local Design Authority and provide peer review feedback for designs that impact the network domain.
Work with fellow TA’s to create and maintain and propose new technical standards/patterns, innovations and solutions to improve the EasyJet technology function
Manage and Maintain the core technology roadmaps for network with alignment to enterprise roadmaps and strategies including life cycles e.g. Network Device Nodes, Operating System, network virtual instance types – and align with the delivery teams to ensure the ability to execute, maintain and manage these technologies.
Manage and own risk, technical debt and backlogs for the network domain.
Requirements of the Role

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED
Demonstrable experience of designing and implementing high availability and scalable enterprise network solutions together with presenting them at a technical forum.
Ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to generate artefacts for the network domain that demonstrate the capabilities of the domains
Articulate and demonstrate touch points to other IT domains e.g. Infrastructure to networks.
Ability to identify, document and managed “Technical Design Decision” for the network domain that have an impact on debt, risks and ability to execute on backlogs.
Ability to identify and manage key stakeholders during the review process of technical architecture designs
Methodical, logical and flexible in approach, you will have gained significant experience as a Technical Architect
Understands technical governance and can participate in or deliver the assurance of a service.
Good understanding of design best practices, including design principles & patterns, security and performance for network services
Develop of patterns and building blocks that allow for a repeatable approach for commonly deployed components & services within the network domain
Ability to collaborate and manage vendors’ and 3rd parties in the end to end design of network architecture.
New technology awareness, evaluation and selection; experience with running or supporting vendor RFI and RFP processes.
Experience of working in a technology-based role and interfacing to a varied number of internal and external stakeholders
Experience of operating in a distributed agile model and in supporting onshore and offshore delivery teams
Practical experience of analysis and development techniques e.g. SCRUM, Agile & Waterfall
Understands and designs complex network services that integrate with existing or new services, including application, cloud and infrastructure services.
Ability to dissect and troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple technologies and capabilities and identify root cause.
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
Deep understanding of networking and network security relating to the following wired and wireless network technologies that include –
  • Networks – WAN, LAN, DC, Internet and Cellular networks
  • Network Topologies and Overlays
  • Resilience and Load Balancing – GTM and LTM
  • Cisco access, routing and core technologies along with ACI and Nexus technologies
  • Cloud service provider networks - AWS (Fault domains, VPC’s, peering, security groups) and public cloud connectively to on premise infrastructure
  • F5 networks specifically APM, LTM and ASM
  • Firewall technologies - Palo Alto and Cisco ASA and associated threat prevention capabilities & technologies:
    • NAC and Remote Access, NA, MFA, SSL/TLS and encryption
    • Network and Security Configuration Management & Auditing
    • DDOS protection
  • Ruckus WLAN and Cloudpath
  • Forescout Network Access Control
  • SolarWinds – Network Monitoring software
  • Dynamic routing and network protocols
  • Subnetting and segmentation
  • VPN and WAN technologies
  • Low latency replication networks
  • Unified communications & VOIP – Avaya telephony and skype for business

DESIRABLE
Desirable skills such as:
  • Working understanding of compute, storage, physical infrastructure
  • Commercial off the shelf (COTS) applications
  • Cloud based solutions: Virtual and public cloud including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
  • EMM/MDM and Unified Access
  • IoE – Internet of everything
  • Active Directory and IAM
  • AWS architecture skills including deployment of Cisco CSR instances, virtual Palo Alto, ELK stack, Lambda scripts and Cloudwatch
  • Azure Public Cloud networking
  • Scripting skills (Python) to assist in task automation
