As we expand, we're seeking a highly experienced Technical Architect who can lead our technology strategy, architecture design, and overall solution delivery.


Role and Responsibilities


As a Technical Architect, you will be a key driver of the eyworks technical vision - responsible for architecting, scaling, and securing our SaaS platforms. You'll collaborate closely across teams to deliver high-quality, cloud-native applications using AWS best practices, modern PHP frameworks, and React technologies.


This is a hands-on role: you must be equally comfortable designing high-level architecture and actively contributing to technical implementation, code reviews, and problem-solving alongside the engineering team. Your primary responsibilities will include:


Architect scalable, resilient, and secure SaaS solutions using PHP, React.js, React Native, and AWS cloud services
Apply and enforce AWS Well-Architected Framework principles across all systems (Security, Reliability, Performance, Operational Excellence, and Cost Optimisation)
Design cloud architectures involving Mysql Aurora, S3, CloudFront, EC2, ECS/Fargate, Lambda, SQS, SNS, Cognito, and related services
Implement and advocate security best practices across system architecture, including encryption at rest and transit, secure APIs, identity and access management, audit logging, and compliance with relevant standards
Design and lead DevSecOps practices, integrating automated code review pipelines (e.g., static code analysis, dependency vulnerability scans) into the development lifecycle
Own the setup, optimisation, and management of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring safe, fast, and reliable deployments (using tools like GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, etc.)
Define API strategies (RESTful and event-driven), ensuring optimal integration and interoperability
Lead infrastructure design, including VPC setup, security groups, IAM policies, auto-scaling strategies, and CloudFormation/Terraform templates
Conduct architecture reviews, threat assessments, penetration testing plans, and ensure continuous improvement of security posture
Collaborate with product owners and leadership to transform business requirements into scalable, secure technical designs
Mentor development teams on system design, code quality, security, and performance optimisation
Guide and support DevOps practices, including containerisation (Docker, ECS, EKS) and serverless computing (AWS Lambda)
Stay current with emerging technologies, AWS advancements, and recommend innovations that align with business goals


Required Skills & Experience


Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development and solution architecture
Strong expertise in building and scaling SaaS platforms
Deep practical experience in PHP (modern frameworks like Yii, Laravel) and frontend technologies like React.js and React Native
Advanced expertise with AWS services - especially Aurora MySQL, S3, CloudFront, API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, SQS, SNS, Cognito, CloudWatch, and Route53
Strong understanding of AWS Well-Architected Framework principles
Deep understanding of database design, optimisation, and performance tuning (especially on Aurora MySQL)
Hands-on experience with event-driven and microservices architectures
Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, including IAM policies, encryption, data protection, and compliance
Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation)
Strong DevOps understanding: CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, monitoring/logging practices
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills


Preferred Skills


Experience in multi-tenant SaaS platforms
Exposure to mobile backend optimisations (React Native integration with AWS backend services)
Understanding of open banking integrations (optional but a plus)
Familiarity with cost optimisation and FinOps practices in AWS
Certification preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional or Associate)
