Overall job purpose
The DDaT - Technical Business Analyst works within the Business Partnering discipline in the DDaT Operations Job family. The post involves working with the wider job family to ensure the DDaT team have an active and healthy relationship with the business units it serves and an in-depth understanding is formed of the processes used by business units to serve the needs of its customers.
The post will provide business analysis expertise to support service redesign and wider ICT projects and digital transformation opportunities. As a Technical Business Analyst, you will be a key part of corporate and regional ICT projects to understand systems, areas of work and business problems to identify improvements that meet business and user needs.
Reporting to the DDaT Lead Business Relationship Manager, this post will play a key role in achieving the strategic goals of the DDaT team through delivery of the Corporate and Education IT Strategies.
The role requires excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills to investigate business problems via research, analysis, and investigation to translate needs into documented processes and requirements for effective design of services and technical system specifications. You will use business analysis techniques to work with customers to identify opportunities for service efficiencies that could
be gained from the implementation of new technology. You will provide expert technical analysis for complex IT projects, leading to the implementation of changes in technology and business process across the council and wider regional and national projects.
The post holder will apply business analysis techniques to support the analysis, planning, development and testing systems to ensure they meet the requirements of departments and users while providing value for money from the Council's software budget. You will engage with users, managers, suppliers, and ICT colleagues to gather information and develop proposals for improvements and projects, which when implemented will meet business needs.
They will also undertake any related activities allocated to them by their manager. The role involves a high degree of direct contact with customers at all levels within the organisation and with suppliers and other partners. This means that it is essential that the postholder builds a trusted and valued relationship with services and customers.
