We are looking for an Experienced

Technical Chemist

The role will require you to travel to current customers sites to carry out on-site testing of chemicals and their effectiveness as well supporting new business opportunities. A vehicle will be supplied to support this travel.


A background of working with external clients would be preferred in addition to hands on experience in chemical application.


The role will require you to work as part of a team including chemical operations, engineering and the sales teams to report on and recommend solutions.


You will work closely with the laboratory chemist at the Coalville site and part of your time will be based at this laboratory supporting product testing and application, quality control as well as research and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:



Chemical application

o Understand current chemical applications at client effluent treatment plants including on site trials and analysis working with chemical operations, sales and engineering teams


o Conduct laboratory testing of samples


o Complete detailed technical reports and application reviewing current effectiveness and alternative chemical applications


o Understand the broad range of effluent treatment plant equipment and the effective use and application of chemicals


o Complete chemical performance reviews with clients


o Manage technical requests on chemical product data, assessments and tenders

Ensure adherence to all Safety protocols, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and company policies. Research & Development (R&D) support:

o Collaborate with R&D / Sales and Engineering teams to apply analytical methods to introduce new products and applications.


o Design and execute experiments to support product applications, raw material evaluation, and process improvement.


o Analyse data and application to provide insights and recommendations for R&D projects.


o Research potential new chemicals to bring into the market with current or new suppliers.

Product Testing & Analysis:

o Support chemical testing on raw materials and finished products according to established specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs).


o Support Investigation of out-of-specification (OOS) results, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Quality Management:



o Support the laboratory quality systems, including documentation, record-keeping, and sample management.


o Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards (e.g. ISO, internal and external audits).

Requirements



Bachelor's / Master's degree in Chemistry or equivalent subject or similar experience in a laboratory environment - ideally with field-based experience. Flexibility to travel including overnight stays as required. Ability to work on your own initiative. Demonstrate expertise in a wide range of analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation. Strong understanding of Quality Control principles. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Ideally have worked with external clients to develop and present solutions. Ideally experience in effluent chemistry and application to effluent plants although experience in a related field will be considered.
Salary up to 29,000 Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week 23 days holiday per year plus bank holidays. After 2 complete years' continuous service with the Company you will be entitled to one extra day of holiday for every complete year of service thereafter, to a maximum of 25 days. 10 extra paid days leave for Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to attend their annual training.
