Technical Design Manager (Full-Time, Permanent)

Based at Head Office in Brentwood, with weekly site travel across London (within the M25)

55,000 - 60,000 p/a

Avis Contracts is a leading carpentry, bespoke joinery, and fit-out subcontractor, delivering high-quality installations on new build projects across London and the South East. Known for our attention to detail and collaborative approach, we work with some of the UK's top developers and main contractors.

We are currently seeking a Technical Design Manager to join our growing team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a key role within our business, focused on managing the technical design process from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring seamless delivery and outstanding results on every project.

Duties

Develop and produce detailed technical drawings and specifications based on project requirements. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure designs meet functional and aesthetic standards. Conduct thorough reviews of designs to identify potential issues or improvements. Prepare documentation for manufacturing processes, including assembly instructions and quality control measures. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to electrical design. Assist in troubleshooting design-related issues during the production phase. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance product quality.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Technical Designer or similar role, with a focus on electrical design preferred. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for creating detailed technical drawings. Strong understanding of carpentry components and of building safety standards. Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex technical information clearly. A relevant degree or qualification in engineering or design is advantageous but not essential.
Candidates should be aware that our Head Office is not close to public transport routes so a driving licence and access to a car is essential.
