We're seeking a technically accomplished and operationally focused professional to take on the role of Technical Director for our Asset Management team in the North Sub Practice. This is a pivotal leadership position, combining deep technical expertise with strategic and operational oversight.
You'll be a champion of asset management, bringing credibility, innovation, and direction to a growing team of 30+ professionals, with ambitions to expand sustainably by at least 10-15% annually. You'll play a key role in delivering excellence across sectors including Water, Aviation, Defence, and Power & Renewables while leveraging digital tools and our Global Technology Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
Provide expert guidance across the asset management lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, innovation, and quality assurance in delivery. Preferably from an Operations & Maintenance background, to complement our other practice heads who are more strategic Asset Management focused.
Operational Oversight:
Own key regional business metrics including productivity, headcount growth, training, and performance. Maintain personal billability of 75%, while ensuring the sub-practice achieves >85% average productivity.
Practice Growth:
Take a key role in shaping and growing the overall Assets & Information Management practice. Contribute to strategic planning, service development, and cross-practice collaboration.
People Development:
Inspire, mentor, and retain talent. Spearhead skills development initiatives, support career progression, and foster a culture of inclusion, innovation, and technical excellence.
Client Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities and converting them into sustainable workstreams.
Framework & Account Leadership:
Act as Framework Director or Key Account Lead for major clients, ensuring consistent delivery, strategic alignment, and client satisfaction.
Strategic Delivery:
Spearhead major strategic projects, translating client needs into high-impact solutions and driving continuous improvement across operations.
Thought Leadership:
Represent AtkinsRealis externally through speaking engagements, publications, and award submissions to showcase our impact and innovation.
Candidate Profile:
We're looking for someone who:
Is a respected technical authority in Asset Management or Operations & Maintenance, with consultancy or client-side experience.
Has a proven track record in operational performance improvement, delivering lean and effective solutions.
Demonstrates strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex client needs into actionable strategies.
Is proficient in steering diverse teams and building a strong regional identity and culture.
Is comfortable with UK-wide travel and occasional international assignments.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Honours Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
IAM Certification (Diploma or RAMP desirable).
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., Institute of Asset Management).
Experience in sectors such as Water, Oil & Gas, Aviation, Defence, Nuclear, or Renewables is advantageous.
