We are seeking a highly skilled and experience Technical Director to lead our team in delivering product development, customer applications, testing and product support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical technical background combined with testing and design experience, overseeing the product from concept, proposal, development, installation, testing to final support. This role requires expertise in engineering principles and physics, relating to air movement and heat transfer. The primary products are HVAC, Engine Cooling Systems, Fans, Air Filtration Systems, and the engineering directors role is to advance the development of these products.
Responsibilities
Lead the technical direction of projects, ensuring alignment with customer targets, compliance standards , cost and technical feasibility.
Collaborate with customers, designers, and manufacturing to generate high quality design solutions.
Manage and mentor team members, providing guidance on best practices in design, and offer technical guidance
A strong background in the design and testing of HVAC systems is required.
Detailed technical knowledge to communicate directly with customers relating to the performance targets, feasibility, design calculations, and test data, relating to evaporators, refrigeration cycle systems, condensers, compressors. A sound understanding and application of the principles for these systems. The hands-on development, commissioning and testing of such systems.
A strong background in the application, selection and principles of fan & blower applications
A strong knowledge of electrical systems and electronics is required, including PCB's, CAN bus, system programming, to support our engineered systems
A preference for experience in low voltage systems and working with high voltage applications, for components and systems on high voltage electric and hybrid vehicles
A preference for knowledge in engine cooling systems, their design and application
Liaise with customers from initial enquiry, design concepts, technical submissions, through to detailed designs, testing, commissioning, verification and support. Conduct regular reviews of project progress and provide constructive feedback to internal and external team members.
A strong backgound in commissioning systems, product testing and sound engineering practices on designs for vehicle applications
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation within the team.
A strong knowledge of commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles and knowledge of military vehicle systems would be a distinct advantage, relating to HVAC, Engine Cooling, Fans, and CBRN Air Filtration systems.
Qualifications
The candidate is likely to have an engineering degree and must have relevant experience and background in a similar role.
Strong understanding of airflow and heat transfer principles.

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively., and work on own initiative
Strong communication skills to articulate ideas clearly within a collaborative environment, and working closely with customers
Experience in managing an engineering team or department in an engineering company.
